The Grace of God

That Brings Salvation Has Appeared to All Men (Titus 2:11)

Stranger in the World, Citizen of Heaven

I am a stranger in the world
And this is what I see:
The earth reeling like a drunkard,
Tottering like a hut,
Its transgression heavy upon it.
Soon to fall and never to rise again.
For He treads down the peoples–
The rebellious peoples who refuse to fear Him
And love Him, though He is lovely–
He treads them down in His anger.
They are made drunk in His fury
Intoxicated with lies
Because they despised Truth.
Their strength–
The strength of their flesh–
Is waning.
He brings down their strength to the earth,
That He may set all on fire together.

I am a citizen of heaven,
And this is what I see:
Mount Zion is inhabited by
A people in white linen
Purifying themselves in hope.
They have been raised up together
And made to sit together in heavenly places.
Their eyes always behold the Lamb of God,
Their hearts bow before Him.
They despise not His chastening,
For His Spirit in them cries “Father.”
They pursue peace with all people,
And holiness.
They shine like stars,
Blameless and harmless,
Without rebuke among the crooked and perverse,
Holding forth the Word of Life,
To turn many to righteousness.

The earth shall reel to and fro like a drunkard, And shall totter like a hut; Its transgression shall be heavy upon it, And it will fall, and not rise again. (Isa. 24:20)

The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness. (2 Thess. 2:9-12)

I have trodden down the peoples in My anger, made them drunk in My fury, And brought down their strength to the earth. (Isa. 63:5)

But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. (2 Pet. 3:10)

For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. (Phil. 3:20)

But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem. (Heb. 12:22)

Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure. (I Jn. 3:2-3)

But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus. (Eph. 2:4-6)

And you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as to sons: “My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord, Nor be discouraged when you are rebuked by Him; For whom the Lord loves He chastens, And scourges every son whom He receives. (Heb. 12:5-6)

Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord. (Heb. 12:14)

Do all things without murmurings and disputings: That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world; Holding forth the word of life. (Phil. 2:14-16)

And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever. (Dan. 12:3)
