Gentiles Included in Old Testament Israel

Posted by israeliteindeed on August 8, 2016

Introduction

This paper will show biblically that Old Testament Israel was a body of believers in the true God, a called out “congregation,” who were not all of one race. To remain in the Body of Israel required obedience to the covenant, and any “stranger” (Gentile) who did so, was considered as “native born” and granted full privileges, including marrying into Israelite families and receiving an inheritance.

The Promise to Abraham–All the Families of the Earth Shall Be Blessed

Now the Lord had said to Abram: “Get out of your country, from your family and from your father’s house, to a land that I will show you. I will make you a great nation; I will bless you and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” (Gen. 12:1-3)

Specific Gentiles in the Old Testament shown to be true worshipers of God and/or included in Israel:

Melchizedek was called “Priest of God Most High,” although he was the king of Salem, a Canaanite. (Gen. 14:18)

Abimelech, the king of Gerar, called God “Lord” and pleaded for his “righteous nation,” vouching for his own integrity in having taken Sarah, not knowing she was already married. God confirmed the man’s integrity and kept him from sinning. God gave further instructions to Abimelech, which he carried out obediently. (Gen. 20)

When Moses led the people out of Egypt, a mixed multitude went with them also (Exo. 12:38). Who was this mixed multitude?–Egyptians, and perhaps other nationalities who had been dwelling in Egypt, who now feared the Lord and joined themselves to Israel! As God-fearing people, they were included from that point on. They married into the family of Israel and their descendants were eventually given a portion of the Promised Land with everyone else.

Moses married Zipporah, the daughter of the priest of Midian, Jethro. Zipporah and her father were both Gentiles. Zipporah was resistant to the ordinance of circumcision at first, and for this reason, God almost killed Moses! But she did obey God, and He let Moses go (Exo. 4:24-26). Later her father Jethro confessed that Yahweh was greater than all other gods, and offered sacrifices to Him. He ate with the leaders of Israel “before God” in full fellowship with God’s people. (Exo. 18:7-12)

The Canaanite Rahab confessed the God of Israel was the Lord and gave aid to the spies (Josh. 2). She married into the family of Israel and was in the direct line of Jesus Himself (Matt. 1:5). (With such Gentile inclusion, the idea of a “pure race” of Israel after the flesh must be ruled out.)

Ruth the Moabite married an Israelite, and after his death, she joined herself to Israel and the Lord by declaring, “Your people shall be my people, and your God, my God.” (Ruth 1:16) She then married another Israelite Boaz, and became the grandmother of Israel’s renowned king David, from whose line Jesus came. Were David and Jesus “pure” in race?

There were whole Gentile nations who were submitted to David while his own son Absalom was in full rebellion against him, including the Cherethites, Pelethites, and Gittites (2 Sam. 15:18). The Cherethites were Cretans who lived among the Philistines, and the Pelethites were most likely related to the Philistines. The Gittites–“men of Gath”–were Philistines. These are a picture of the Gentiles who in the future would submit to King Jesus (who now sits on David’s throne), while some of His own family would remain in rebellion.

Of David’s close band of mighty men, some were Gentiles. Ittai the Gittite was David’s commander of the Gittites, and called a “foreigner,” yet he determined to be with his king wherever he would go (Read 2 Sam. 15:19-21. Recall Rev. 14:4–“These…follow the Lamb wherever He goes.“) Uriah (the husband of Bathsheba) was a Hittite faithful to David, as was Ahimelech (I Sam. 26:6). Ithmah was a Moabite, and Zelek was an Ammonite (I Chron. 11:46, 49).

After Esther was used to save her people from the evil plot of Haman, Scripture records that “many of the people of the land became Jews.” (Esther 8:17)  Became Jews?!  But we are told Jewishness is a racial thing?  Not according to Scripture, and Paul later confirmed that anyone with a circumcised heart to the Lord is a Jew in God’s eyes (Rom. 2:28-29).

Peoples God Was Dealing with in the Old Testament:

When God prepared to take Israel out of Egypt, He told Pharoah that His purposes were these:

1. That Egypt might know there is no one like Him in all the earth (Exo. 9:14)
2. That God’s name might be declared in ALL the earth (Exo. 9:16)

God’s heart was to save not only Egypt, but all the earth! I could end this section here, since “all the earth” includes every nation. The prophets gave warnings to surrounding nations of Israel, not just Israel. God wanted to save them all!  This perfectly coincides with the promise given to Abraham in order that “all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” As stated previously, a mixed multitude followed Israel out of Egypt. Gentiles have been “going up to Zion” to worship the true God since the beginning (Isa. 2:3).

The book of Jonah tells the story of God’s love for Nineveh, a Gentile nation. Israel was “chosen” for the good of all the world, just as any Christian today is “chosen” for the good of the world, not for the good of himself only. Therefore God sent the Israelite prophet to warn a Gentile city to repent. Thus Jonah is sometimes called “the first apostle to the Gentiles.” The city was spared from judgment for a time because its king and people repented. I think it safe to assume, or at least hope, that some people in Nineveh remained true to the Lord after that, although the city was destroyed in a future generation for returning to its wickedness.

The book of Daniel records the story of the Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar, who, after being thoroughly humbled by God, magnified the Lord and His eternal Kingdom in Daniel 4:34-37. God was still trying to reach the Babylonians in Daniel 5, when He wrote a warning on the wall and slew Belshazzar for not turning to God although he knew better because of God’s previous dealings with Nebuchadnezzar.

Isaiah prophesied of a time when a portion of Egypt would “speak the language of Canaan and swear by the Lord of hosts,” and have an altar to the Lord in its midst. Assyria also would join with Egyptians in worshiping the Lord, and the Lord would say, “Blessed is Egypt My people, and Assyria the work of My hands, and Israel My inheritance.” (Isa. 19:16-26)

There are many more portions of Scripture in the Old Testament that declare God’s heart for all people, and intent to gather people from all nations into His congregation (Israel), but these will suffice.

Laws and directives for “strangers” (Gentiles) who were part of Old Testament Israel:

Directly after the Exodus from Egypt, God gave laws to Israel concerning the Passover feast. And when a stranger dwells with you and wants to keep the Passover to the Lord, let all his males be circumcised, and then let him come near and keep it; and HE SHALL BE AS A NATIVE OF THE LAND. For no uncircumcised person shall eat it. (Exodus 12:48) Notice that the stranger was to be counted as a native of the land, so long as he participated in the true worship of God. (See also Num. 9:14)

And if a stranger dwells with you, or whoever is among you throughout your generations, and would present an offering made by fire, a sweet aroma to the Lord, just as you do, so shall he do. One ordinance shall be for you of the assembly and for the stranger who dwells with you,an ordinance forever throughout your generations; AS YOU ARE, SO SHALL THE STRANGER BE before the Lord. (Num. 15:14-15) Do you see that?–No difference between the stranger and the native born. (Paul later asked, “Is He the God of the Jews only? Is He not also the God of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also.” Rom. 3:29)

And whatever man of the house of Israel, OR OF THE STRANGERS WHO DWELL AMONG YOU, who eats any blood, I will set My face against that person who eats blood, and will cut him off from among his people. (Lev. 17:10) If a stranger dwelling among the Israelites ate blood, he would be cut off from “his people”–Israel. The stranger (Gentile) was considered an Israelite with full rights and responsibilities unless he broke covenant with God.

In giving rules for the Feast of Weeks, the Lord commanded, “You shall rejoice before the Lord your God, you and your son and your daughter, your male servant and your female servant, the Levite who is within your gates, the STRANGER and the fatherless and the widow who are among you, at the place where the Lord your God chooses to make His name abide.” (Deut. 16:11)

And Moses commanded them, saying: “At the end of every seven years, at the appointed time in the year of release, at the Feast of Tabernacles, when ALL ISRAEL comes to appear before the Lord your God in the place which He chooses, you shall read this law before all Israel in their hearing. Gather the people together, men and women and little ones, AND THE STRANGER WHO IS WITHIN YOUR GATES, that they may hear and that they may learn to fear the Lord your God and carefully observe all the words of this law, and that their children, who have not known it, may hear and learn to fear the Lord your God as long as you live in the land which you cross the Jordan to possess. (Deut. 31:10-13)   Notice that the stranger living within Israel’s gates is considered part of the ALL ISRAEL, and was to continue obeying the Law when he later possessed the land.

The next passage makes it clear that Gentiles were given land among the tribes of Israel, and were considered as “native-born.”–Thus you shall divide this land among yourselves according to the tribes of Israel.  It shall be that you will divide it by lot as an inheritance for yourselves, AND FOR THE STRANGERS WHO DWELL AMONG YOU AND BEAR CHILDREN AMONG YOU. THEY SHALL BE TO YOU AS NATIVE-BORN AMONG THE CHILDREN OF ISRAEL; THEY SHALL HAVE AN INHERITANCE WITH YOU AMONG THE TRIBES OF ISRAEL. And it shall be that in whatever tribe the stranger dwells, there you shall give him his inheritance,” says the Lord God. (Ezek. 47:21-23)

The prophet Jeremiah wrote about how Gentiles could be established “in the midst” of God’s people Israel–And it shall be, if they will learn carefully the ways of My people, to swear by My name, ‘As the Lord lives,’ as they taught My people to swear by Baal, then they shall be established in the midst of My people. (Jer. 12:16)

Isaiah was equally clear–
Do not let the son of the foreigner who has joined himself to the Lord speak, saying,
“The Lord has utterly separated me from His people”; nor let the eunuch say,
“Here I am, a dry tree.” For thus says the Lord, “To the eunuchs who keep My Sabbaths, and choose what pleases Me, and hold fast My covenant, even to them I will give in My house, and within My walls a place and a name better than that of sons and daughters; I will give them an everlasting name that shall not be cut off. Also the sons of the foreigner who join themselves to the Lord, to serve Him, and to love the name of the Lord, to be His servants—everyone who keeps from defiling the Sabbath, and holds fast My covenant—even them I will bring to My holy mountain, and make them joyful in My house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices will be accepted on My altar; for My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations.” The Lord God, who gathers the outcasts of Israel, says, “Yet I will gather to him others besides those who are gathered to him.” (Isa. 56:3-8)

Let’s unpack this powerful passage:

1. Any foreigner could join himself to the Lord, and was not to say he was separate from God’s people. So long as the foreigner served God and obeyed the covenant, he would be brought to God’s holy mountain (Heb. 12:22).

2. The man that loved God, but could not conceive children (eunuch), would be given an everlasting name that would never be cut off. This is significant because it shows that possession of the Promise was not based on producing heirs who could then claim land.

3. The house of prayer was for “all nations,” and God explicitly says He will gather people from other nations “to him”–to Israel. Israel would not be a “pure race,” but a people who served God from a pure heart.

Remain in Israel, or Be Cut Off

Any person living in Israel, whether native born or a stranger, could be cut off for disobedience. To be cut off was to be no longer an Israelite. This concept is all through the Old Testament and completely obliterates any notion that being in a certain bloodline was a guarantee of benefits (just look up “cut off” in any Bible search tool, and study how may ways an Israelite could be cut off). I have written previously about this here. Israel was always a congregation of people that worshiped the true God. To depart from true worship resulted in being cut off from Israel, from God’s perspective.

Conclusion

There were always “strangers” sojourning with Israel, and they were accepted as native born provided they worshiped the true God with obedient faith. Israel was not a “pure race” of people according to the flesh, even in the Old Testament. Some of the included Gentiles were purposely mentioned in the genealogies of King David and King Jesus, demonstrating God’s masterful sidestepping of man’s desire to mix racial supremacy with religion. God did choose one faithful man (Abraham) through whom to bless the world with the fulfillment of all promises–Jesus Christ. That family, which Gentiles could and did join, was the Old Testament family of God.

With the ratifying of the New Testament in Jesus’ blood, and the cancelling of the Old, that Old Testament family of God remained the foundation for the New Testament temple which is still being built. In Jesus, all the promises are yes and amen. All who are obedient to the terms of the New Covenant are grafted into the Israel of God. All people–whether Jew or Gentile–who disobey the terms of the New Covenant, are cut off from the Israel of God until such a time as they stop continuing in unbelief (Rom. 11:23).

Who the Jews Are; How and Where They Live

Posted by israeliteindeed on January 8, 2015

Here is an interesting article from The Jewish Press, demonstrating again the utter foolishness of trying to make RACE a matter of importance in the times of the New Covenant. (LINK)

Once you begin to hold to the false doctrine that Christians are called to “help the Jews” live in a certain political boundary–something you can never legitimize with the New Testament, nor even with the Old Testament as the New Testament writers interpreted it–it then becomes necessary to figure out who the Jews are.

The truth is that many who consider themselves Gentiles may, in fact, have a good deal of Hebrew blood in them; whether they live in historic Palestine or not. As the article above explains, there are Muslim “Palestinians” whose families were at one time Jewish. It’s also worth saying that many who call themselves Jewish today can be traced back to Gentile lineage. Abraham himself was not a Jew!

Is a Jew someone whose mother was a Jew by blood, or someone whose father was a Jew by blood? Do both parents have to be Jews? What if only a grandparent was Jew?–Does this count? Maybe we need to consult those endless Jewish genealogies Paul talked about??? (I Tim. 1:4)

Is a Jew someone who abides by Torah and rejects the New Covenant (is such possible?), or someone who abides by the Talmud–that satanic collection of doctrines Jesus so vehemently opposed? (Assuming we could decide which of these two classes are legitimate Jews, which class should we have fellowship with as believers?–2 Cor. 6:14-15)

It can be a sticky problem trying to figure out what a Jew is! Fortunately, the New Testament writer explained it for us:

For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision that which is outward in the flesh; but he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the Spirit, not in the letter; whose praise is not from men but from God. (Rom. 2:28-29)

So are real Christians “Jews”? Yes, real Christians are Jews. Some real Christians have Hebrew blood in them; some do not. Some used to follow Judaism, some used to follow Islam, and some used to be wiccans or atheists or fake Christians. All have renounced their former selves and become God’s children and the family of Jesus–

Then His brothers and His mother came, and standing outside they sent to Him, calling Him.And a multitude was sitting around Him; and they said to Him, “Look, Your mother and Your brothers are outside seeking You.”

But He answered them, saying, “Who is My mother, or My brothers?” And He looked around in a circle at those who sat about Him, and said, “Here are My mother and My brothers! For whoever does the will of God is My brother and My sister and mother.” (Mark 3:31-35)

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons [children] of God. (Rom. 8:14)

So had we better unite all the Christians to go take “the Promise land” away from the unbelievers who now live in it?–No, for the City we wait for is not earthly; it has foundations because it is built by God Himself. If we lived in Israel today, it could only be a foreign country to us. (Heb. 11:9-10) Furthermore, to try to take this land for ourselves–or for anyone else–would violate Christ’s teachings and example. Racism, covetousness, and carnal war were banished when the love of God was shed abroad in our hearts.

As born again believers, we have been lifted up from the carnal and the perishing to behold the King in His splendor sitting on the eternal throne of His glory. Raised up in the Spirit and sitting with Jesus in these heavenly places, our focus on the earth is being His ambassador to every alien of the commonwealth of God’s Israel (Eph. 2:6-13).

Some of those aliens are earthly “Jews.” Some are Palestinians. Some are Somalian, Australian or American. They war against each other for control of this or that piece of ground, always with some self-righteous justification attached. They draw false or greatly deceived Christians into their violence and carnality with them (and away from Christ.) All these remain aliens of God’s kingdom until someone preaches Jesus to them, and they repent and believe.

When they are born again, they can now see the kingdom of God for the first time. And like Paul, after they are saved, they find that their national pedigree is nothing to be gloried in. They set their mind on heavenly things, having their citizenship in heaven (Phil. 3:3-21). For now they are real Jews (regardless of their past), the Spirit has circumcised their hearts, and their praise is not from men but from God. As such, they are servants and debtors to every man that breathes, bound to consider others better than themselves. The ex-Judaizer and the ex-Muslim dwell together in unity, working together to reach the Somalian, the Australian, and the American. Their weapons are no longer carnal, and their lives are no longer dear to themselves. They joyfully accept the plundering of their earthly goods knowing that God has chosen the poor in this life to be rich in the next (Heb. 10:34; James 2:5).

Oh, kingdom of the True Jews, ruled by your matchless King Jesus! A City which has foundations, surrounded by holy fire and covered by a protective cloud. A City without carnal walls, guarded by the One who never sleeps. How great PEACE have they which continually dwell within you! How precious is the blood that redeemed you, and the Word that lives in you. How greatly your enemies–men from every nation on earth–fight against you and your King. How greatly false Christians and false Jews twist and undermine the truth about you. But you shall overcome. Praise Jesus!

Jesus: the Door to the Promises

Posted by israeliteindeed on October 27, 2014

Now I say that Jesus Christ has become a servant to the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made to the fathers, and that the Gentiles might glorify God for His mercy, as it is written:

“For this reason I will confess to You among the Gentiles,
And sing to Your name.”

And again he says:

“Rejoice, O Gentiles, with His people!”

And again:

“Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles!
Laud Him, all you peoples!”

And again, Isaiah says:

“There shall be a root of Jesse;
And He who shall rise to reign over the Gentiles,
In Him the Gentiles shall hope.” (Rom. 15:8-12)

What promises did Jesus confirm when He became a servant to the circumcision? He confirmed the Old Testament promises. Jesus told the Jews that the Old Testament Scriptures wrote of Him, and that even Moses had written of Him (Jn. 5:39;46).

And beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, He expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself. (Lk. 24:27)

Unfortunately most Jews rejected His claim, and as always occurs when we do not receive a love for the Truth, they embraced lies based on nationalism, genealogy, or ritual; and this has continued to this very day. What is even sadder is that much of the Gentile church in the west is so apostate today, she is lending her support to the works of evildoers and thinking she serves God by doing so. But whether they join hands or no, they will not inherit the promises.

Cast out the bondwoman and her son, for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman. (Gal. 4:30)

It is in Christ that ALL the promises find their fulfillment:

For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us. (2 Cor. 1:20)

Now notice in the Romans 15 passage, what effect the fulfillment of the promises would have on the Gentiles. They would be rejoicing “with His people;” they would hope in Him, and they would submit to His Kingly reign along with the believing Jews. We don’t see a cutting off of all God’s Hebrew people, but instead a grafting in of Gentiles with those Hebrews who are faithful. (Same language we see in Rom. 11) Certainly, Paul does not have every single Gentile in view here, but those who are converted to Christ.

The believing Gentiles are grafted into the Olive Tree, which is God’s chosen people–a tree which was stripped of many (but thankfully not all) Jewish branches due to their unbelief (Rom. 11:17-24). (This is not the first time the Olive Tree was pruned; see also Jer. 11:1-17 for an earlier time. One can also see the death of the first generation of Israelites in the wilderness as a pruning, as well as smaller judgments which swallowed up particular families, etc. We must endure to the end to remain in the Olive Tree.)

The Olive Tree is a picture of God’s kingdom.

How can a kingdom (the Israel of God) be made of people from all over the earth?! Christ’s kingdom is within every believer, and is not something that can be observed in this carnal realm or advanced through carnal means (Lk. 17:20-21). But oh, how the carnal man rankles at this teaching, always seeking to set up something that satisfies the lust of his eyes and flesh, and his pride of life.

Herein is the mystery of God revealed, and how the Israel of God shall be populated with the saved–by faith. God’s Kingdom is the Israel of God, and it is not of this world. Away with these lies that keep repeating that His kingdom is of this world! Away with these foolish statements that we must strengthen the hands of evildoers to be blessed! (“We must bless the modern earthly state of Israel to be blessed”=satanic lie.) To enter the kingdom which Jesus came preaching, and to be blessed, every man is commanded to repent of sin and believe upon Christ. When he does so, he becomes an heir with Jesus of the promises.

There is NO PHYSICAL JEW OR GENTILE in Christ! The flesh profits nothing–absolutely nothing. In Christ and His kingdom, there are only “True Jews” and “Israelites In-Deed” who have entered the kingdom of God by loving and submitting to its King (Rom. 2:28-29; Jn. 1:47). He is the only Door to the Promises.

Insight From Balaam’s Prophecy #1–Blessing & Cursing

Posted by israeliteindeed on June 13, 2014

Introduction: Although I consider Balaam to be a prophet who fell from grace according to 2 Pet. 2:15, Jude 11 and Rev. 2:14, I believe his prophecy recorded in Num. 23-24 was inspired by God (see 23:5, 16; 24:2). As such, it contains some very important truths.

At the time when Balaak wanted to curse Israel through the prophet Balaam, Israel was being obedient to God. Therefore God’s blessing was among them (Num. 23:21). Balaam was not permitted to curse them.

Insight #1 — No one can curse someone God has not cursed. God only curses those who deserve to be cursed. God decides who is blessed and who is cursed.

How shall I curse whom God has not cursed? And how shall I denounce whom the Lord has not denounced? (Num. 23:8)

Like a flitting sparrow, like a flying swallow, So a curse without cause shall not alight. (Prov. 26:2)

The cursed includes idolaters, those who dishonor their parents, thieves, those who lead others astray, those who pervert justice or oppress the weak, the sexually immoral, those who slay the innocent (including aborting parents and their murderous “doctors”), and those who disregard God’s law in any other way (Deut. 27-28). Scripture also declares that the proud (Psa. 119:21), those who trust in man or flesh rather than God (Jer. 17:5), and those who care nothing for the “least of these” (Matt. 25:41) are cursed.

In the charismatic church, I have noticed a strange paranoia that is identical to what is seen among remote superstitious pagans who feel they must make certain offerings or perform certain rituals in order to keep from being cursed. It is not uncommon for a professing Christian to surmise that some person has cursed them, and to blame all unfortunate events on this curse. Sometimes the Christian will feel they must give money to a ministry or make a trip to a certain place to get free of the curse. One such couple I knew believed a neighbor must be cursing them, or else the car would not have broken down, and the woman would not have tripped and cut her head open on a rock. They spent their time wondering where the curse was coming from, and had no peace.

False teachers take advantage of this ignorance of God’s Word, and exploit the gullible to gain followers and money. Just as a witchdoctor gets paid to keep his devotees “blessed” through witchcraft, these sophisticated liars sell thousands of dollars worth of books and cd’s which supposedly offer “the keys to success” their followers are convinced they need. It is the same deception re-packaged; there is nothing new under the sun. The only key to success is obedience to God’s Word, and this is a message we are to freely give to all.

I have also seen false teachers “curse” anyone who questions their doctrine, so as to insulate themselves from proper scrutiny. Do not be deceived. We are to examine every teaching carefully by God’s Word and warn others if it deviates. If you love God and obey His teaching, you will not be cursed. Neither will you be cursed for judging a man’s words by Scripture. However the godly will suffer trials and/or persecution in this life (2 Tim. 3:12; Acts 14:22).

Conversely, if you disregard God’s Word, you will be cursed, and no rituals or offerings will deliver you from reaping what you sow.

There is also gross ignorance in the church regarding the blessing or cursing of nations. Many think our nation can abort children, spread pornography and false teachings all over the globe, love violence and every kind of sexual perversion, neglect the proper teaching of our children, and yet still be blessed if only we do certain religious things right (such as “go to church” or “vote conservative” or “support Israel militarily.”) This is a lie. As a nation, we are reaping exactly what we have sown, and we will continue to reap what we sow. God is not bought off by hypocritical prayers offered by public officials. He is not blinded to what we are doing by religious rituals. America will continue to fall until she is destroyed, unless she repents. All nations that forget God are turned into hell, without exception (Psa. 9:17). But any individual who turns to God in repentance can be saved from this perverse generation (Acts 2:40), just as some Jews turned to Christ and were saved, while their countrymen continued to rebel until they were destroyed.

How about the blessing of God on the corporate Church? The proud American, apostate church (not the true disciples who are walking in the truth) is largely responsible for this nation’s destruction, and she is cursed. She was supposed to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world, but she has followed after the same idols loved by the world. She wants earthly power (dominion), earthly riches and the praises of wicked men (woe to her). The light within her is darkness, her testimony is hypocritical, her adulterous heart is divided. She has been a friend of the world–perverting God’s truth lest she bear the shame of the cross–and made herself an enemy of God. Yet she throws a few crumbs of false devotion to God and expects His blessing. She is deceived and is deceiving others! Many are her false teachers, like unclean birds in a cage, squawking out their lies: Give us money, and you will be blessed! Support other ungodly, Christ-rejecting nations with the arm of the flesh, and you will be blessed! Look at our financial prosperity–see how blessed we are! We have need of nothing! Look what our programs are doing! Look how beautiful our buildings are!

And all the while, because of SIN, the people are cursed and under strong delusion. Their money will soon fly away, their programs will be exposed as not being founded on God’s Word, and their buildings will become rubble.

BUT–those members of Christ’s Church whose “house” is founded on obedience to God’s Word will endure! (Matt. 7:24-25)

In summary, those who love and obey God’s Word will be blessed, and those who hate and disobey God’s Word will be cursed. God has decided this, and no one can circumvent it.

The curse of the Lord is on the house of the wicked, but He blesses the home of the just. (Prov. 3:33)

The Land of Israel

Posted by israeliteindeed on September 21, 2013

Is God concerned with land?

Yes.

He is concerned with the hard, stony soil found in most people’s hearts. He commands that this land be plowed by repentance so that His Word can be planted there to bring forth good fruit that glorifies His Name (Jer. 4:3-4; Hos. 10:12).

There are many who live in a Middle Eastern state called Israel, whose heartland remains unplowed, and who continue to bear wicked fruit.

To God, such a person is not His Israel, not His people, not the apple of His eye, and not His chosen.

God is everywhere, seeking to redeem every person. Having two feet planted on the “home base” of Israel will score no points with God. If I am anti-Semitic for saying this (and I vehemently deny that charge), I am no more anti-Semitic than were Jesus and Paul and John the Baptist (John 8:37-47; Gal. 3:16, 26, 28-29; I Thess. 2:14-16; Rom. 9:6-8, 31-33; 11:21; Matt. 3:7-12).

Blood history linking a Christ-less Jew to Abraham helps him not a bit, for he lacks the faith of Abraham. His physical circumcision is counted as uncircumcision while his heart remains uncircumcised. His Jewishness is meaningless until he becomes the true Jew of which Paul spoke in Rom. 2:28-29.

As the fulfillment of the Old Testament Temple is Jesus Christ (Jesus being the temple itself, the High Priest, the atoning Sacrifice, etc.), so the fulfillment of the “land of Israel” is Jesus Christ.

Matthew affirms that when Jesus was brought “out of Egypt” by Joseph, He fulfilled Old Testament prophecy about Israel (Hos. 11:1; Matt. 2:15).

As a “mixed multitude” left Egypt with Old Testament Israel (Exo. 12:38), it has always been God’s plan to save all races of people by leading them out of slavery to sin and into that blessed place of covenant with Him. Any “stranger” could join Israel simply by submitting to Israel’s God even in Old Testament times, and this remains true today, though I do not refer to an earthly citizenship, but a heavenly citizenship (Phil. 3:20; Gal. 4:25-26; Eph. 2:12-22; Heb. 11:9-16, 12:22-23; Rev. 21:2).

All who follow Jesus out of the world (Egypt), who are baptized into His death (as pictured in the Red Sea crossing), who drink living water of the Rock who is Christ, who live not on bread alone but on God’s Word (manna), who remain faithful to Him in wilderness trials, and who enter into covenant with Him by sacrifice (of the Holy Lamb of God), returning not again to idolatry as a dog might return to its vomit—these are the Israel of God. These alone remain in the land of promise. This is the Israel of God, upon whom is peace forever (for Christ gives them His peace), and against whom the whole world gnashes its teeth.

The Israel of God has an ethnically Hebrew root against which we dare not boast. For what can happen to the Hebrew can happen to us too. Consider the warnings of 1 Cor. 10–we are expressly warned that if we follow the ways of the apostate Hebrews, we shall meet an end like theirs, no matter what spiritual blessings we have thus far enjoyed.

Although the Israel of God has an ethnically Hebrew root, we do not know the Lord Jesus–or other saints–after the flesh (2 Cor. 5:16-17). Jesus is God–the God of both Jew and Gentile.

It is not a matter of being “on this mountain” or “on that mountain,” but worshiping God in Spirit and Truth (John 4:19-24). John the Baptist was not “in the Vine” by being the cousin of Jesus according to the flesh. Paul was not “in the Vine” by being “circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews…” (Phil. 3:5-6). These distinctions were counted as dung to him. The objective of knowing Jesus, and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His suffering was the goal–a spiritual goal attainable by every person regardless of ethnicity or nationality.

Neither can anyone count on the flesh as regards “Father Abraham,” for true obedient faith is the only connection we can have to this patriarch (Lk 3:8-9; Rom. 9:8; Gal. 3:7). God is able to raise up from the stones children to Abraham, and He has — the children of faith are living or lively stones that rest upon the Cornerstone (Matt. 3:9; I Pet. 2:5; Eph. 2:19-22).

So why are people concerned about a piece of land in the Middle East–the very piece of land Father Abraham counted as a strange country?

The short answer is that false teachers in America have adopted and repeated the doctrines of apostate Jewish Pharisees that promote earthly racism and nationalism (read IDOLATRY). The system of theology (dispensationalism) is poisonous, in that it becomes a colored lens through which all Scripture is then read, and its message distorted. Its effects can be subtle at first, but when its fruit ripens, you have “American pastors” claiming Jesus is not the Messiah to the Jews, and we should not preach the Gospel to them. This is antiChrist fruit springing from an antiChrist root.

The Pharisees were concerned about the prosperity of their land and their nation, but they weren’t concerned about knowing and obeying God (Matt. 23). Caiaphas claimed that the whole nation was at stake (John 11:50); if people believed Jesus was the Messiah, trouble with Rome might ensue. Some of the Pharisees probably wanted peace with Rome (the occupying nation) to continue because they were financially and socially advantaged by the arrangement, while more patriotic zealots wanted freedom from Rome altogether–but both groups were consumed by “this world” and how their personal stake in it could be bettered. Their carnal minds, always minding the things of the flesh, were enmity against God (Rom. 8:5-8).

Apostate Jews were blinded by their disobedience to God, and therefore unable to see that God’s Messiah was not an earthly king who would come to set them free from Rome or its taxes. They had the Scriptures but did not understand them, because their hearts were far from the Author who breathed them. They ignored the Scriptures that did not fit with their man-made theology, and they read into the Scriptures what did fit, being carnal men attempting to use a Spiritual book for carnal advantage.

There is nothing new under the sun. Jesus declared His kingdom is not of this world, but to this day, people refuse to believe Him. They refuse to believe Him because they are in love with this world. How often are we warned to beware of covetousness, loving this world, and the various forms of the pride of life. How lovingly the Savior bids us to deny ourselves and be born again into a kingdom only the reborn can actually see and appreciate. How carefully He instructs us to behave as new and holy men, not conforming ourselves to the pattern of this world. But how deceitfully the heart plots to keep one foot in Christ’s kingdom and one foot in man’s.

In America, apostate or lukewarm Christians want to carnally “take back America” not because they care about souls, but because their personal security is being threatened. If you doubt what I write, consider how many people were trying to “take back America” before the fruits of our sins began to ripen and cause us distress. If we want to be honest Christians, we have to begin by being honest about our history. We were founded by rebellion and made rich by oppression. The privileges we have enjoyed do not affirm God’s approval of all we have done. For years we basked in the supposed “blessing of God,” and grew fat and disinterested in true religion (James 1:27). We traded in a spiritual inheritance for a carnal pot of porridge that would eventually run dry and leave us and our children starving.

For some (not all) Jews, being related to Abraham or residing in the modern state of Israel continues to be a source of pride. It bears repeating: all pride will be brought low; the axe is laid to the root of the tree. John the Baptist didn’t mind telling his countrymen this, and true believers also have nothing to fear from the truth.

In the American apostate church, we have a blend of religious and patriotic pride that is especially intoxicating–under its influence, she reels like a drunkard, unable to lead anyone to the Biblical Christ. We like to mix our “love of Israel” with our love for our own nation, and dress up this carnality with rags of self-righteousness bound at the waist by cords of twisted Scriptures. Led by blind leaders (modern day Pharisees like John Hagee) who profit off our ignorance and self-love, we come to think that if only we pretend the “land of Israel” (a secular state every bit as antichrist as our own) is God’s people, and we support legislation that helps them militarily, we can be the “apple of God’s eye” by proxy, in spite of our continued sin. This is an INSANELY UNBIBLICAL belief. Every earthly nation is brought down by its own wickedness, and there are no exceptions.

We have professing Christians in this nation who rightly condemn the Crusades of earlier times, even as they march to the same drumbeat. For them, it is the possessing of land that counts. If innocent blood is spilled on the way, what difference does it make?–We shall give ourselves a better life in this world. GOD FORBID the true church of Jesus Christ ever give an inch to such pernicious leaven! If you have been affected, rise up and shake it off! Do not delay!

If you are a true child of God and familiar with His Word, you should have an instinctive knowing inside that what you have been taught in most churches about Israel is not right. The Jewish apostles and prophets (including Jesus Himself) never taught national elitism or in any way supported political programs that did. Maybe in sincere ignorance, you have blindly “supported Israel” out of a loving heart for a people Jesus wept over. There is nothing wrong with wanting the good of a people, but be careful that your loving heart does not exceed what is written, for God Himself has pronounced the most excoriating rebukes on those who reject the light they are given. Woe to those who call evil good. Make sure that your love for Palestinians and other people groups is equal to your love for Israelis, only exceeded by your love for the saints who are sprinkled all over the world.

In summary, it is not “boasting against the root” to assert these truths:

1. The kingdom of God has been taken from the Jews and given to an interracial spiritual nation that brings forth God’s fruit (Matt. 21:43; I Pet. 2:9).

2. This kingdom is not of this world and its servants do not fight (John 18:36).

3. This kingdom is not protected by carnal weapons (2 Cor. 10:3-4).

4. This kingdom cannot be inherited by flesh and blood (I Cor. 15:50.)

5. Members of this kingdom do not war against flesh and blood (Eph. 6:12).

6. The modern state of Israel is man-made, man-led, and antichrist just like our own nation (as a whole). A remnant will be saved.

7. God cares for the people in nations that surround the state of Israel, as much as He cares for those in Israel. His method of bringing change to Israelis, Palestinians, Americans, etc., is through the Gospel sown and grown in their heart-land.

8. As long as America sins, America is under wrath. As long as the state of Israel sins, Israel is under wrath. A confederacy between our two nations will not help either of us spiritually. Both nations will fall together. God calls individuals to come out from among them and be separate, and if they obey Him, He will be their Father.

9. The Way still stands open while today remains, for every Jew and Gentile to be grafted into the Israel of God–Jesus Christ–by faith (Rom. 11). There is NO OTHER WAY, NO OTHER GOSPEL, and NO OTHER MEANS to be blessed by God.
